Level 2
- For recipients seeking 9 to 15 college credit hours in early childhood specific courses as an introduction to the field
- To supplement a degree in an unrelated field or to meet licensing requirements
- To meet an administrator credential level
- To take early childhood related classes towards a Bachelors Degree in Early Care and Education
- Level 2 is the only T.E.A.C.H. MISSOURI scholarship that supports classes in early childhood for a Bachelors Degree
T.E.A.C.H. MISSOURI provides:
- A one year educational contract over three consecutive semesters
- 75% of tuition and books each semester (85% for family care providers and child care facility owners)
- $300 bonus upon completion of education year and submission of passing grades
- Reimbursement to sponsoring facilities for recipient release time at a rate of $7.50 per hour ($11.25 a week) for recipient’s 1.5 hours of release time per week of class
- Daily access to a counselor via a toll free number to assist in questions about college, registration & enrollment, creative time management scheduling, early childhood issues, or to lend a sympathetic ear as a fellow early childhood advocate
Sponsor provides:
- 15% of tuition and books each semester (billed separately by T.E.A.C.H. MISSOURI)
- A matching $300 bonus if retention commitment of 9 months is desired at sponsoring facility
- Allows recipient to take 1.5 paid hours of release time from work each week of class. Time can be used to study, attend class, or meet general needs to assure success in classes. (Scheduling of release time is decided on between the sponsor and the recipient.)
- Invoice T.E.A.C.H. for release time reimbursement payments of $7.50/hr each month, mid-semester or at the end of each semester - not exceeding 66 hours a year (T.E.A.C.H. MISSOURI provides funds for paying substitutes, NOT the substitute teachers.)
Recipient provides:
- 10% to 15% of tuition and books each semester
- Pass all classes with a C or better
- 9 month commitment to sponsor/facility (if $300 bonus is matched by sponsor) OR
- 9 month commitment to field of early care and education (if no bonus matched by sponsor)
* There is a limit of six recipients from a given facility in this scholarship at the same time.
** Scholarship Level 2 can be applied to college credit bearing courses through a public
community college (for AA/AAS credits) or university (for BA/BS credits).
