The Missouri Panel on School Readiness: Focus on The Missouri Panel on School Readiness: Focus on Pre-Kindergarten Education (Pre-K Panel) has been charged by the Missouri Coordinating Board for Early Childhood (Coordinating Board) to examine early care and education for preschoolers in our state and to make recommendations on strategic next steps. The Panel is composed of 32 persons with diverse experiences in the field of early education who are scheduled to meet four times between May and October 2008. Members have been asked by the Coordinating Board to focus on specific questions that will provide a framework for publicly funded pre-kindergarten education in Missouri. The Pre-K Panel’s recommendations are due to the Coordinating Board in October 2008 and the final report will be completed by December 1. The Coordinating Board encourages all interested persons to examine the work of the panel and to provide feedback as discussions proceed over the next few months. In the near future, the outlines of the Pre-K Panel’s thinking will be posted and specific questions will be posed for your input.
